As a temporary home in Ireland, this New York based family wanted to upgrade this 1970’s first floor apartment on a tight budget.

It had been redecorated by previous owners in an early 1990’s style, with mustard painted walls, and burgundy patterned wall paper.

As it was only being used for short stays, irregularly, the clients wanted to update and modernise the look and feel of the place, without the cost of a full renovation.

We removed the carpets, and splurged on a wide plank solid oak mid brown floor, and replaced the old fireplace with a new sandstone surround, and gas fire.

The walls were painted ‘Matchstick’, with white ceilings and woodwork.

In the bathroom, space was extremely limited.  We replaced the old peach bathroom suite, removing the bath, and installing a larger corner shower.  We replaced the sink with a neat grey vanity, and white & grey marble floor tiles, with white floor to ceiling metro tiles created a smart, contemporary and attractive bathroom.

In the kitchen, we resprayed the units a ‘Manor House Grey’, replaced the formica counter with smart pale white quartz, new under counter sink, and modern tall mixer tap.  This, along with the new floor, and fresh blinds on the windows created the effect of a totally new kitchen.

With new contemporary furnishings throughout, the space was completely transformed from its dated 1990’s look.

‘Evelyn and her team delivered a 5 star service.  She managed to keep the project on track, despite the added challenges of covid and the unexpected discovery of wet rot.  Her design and vision completely encapsulated what we wanted to achieve, and we could not be happier with the final results.
